Parameters and Fees

This page provides current parameter values for the shMonad protocol.

Time Parameters

Traditional Unstaking Wait Period
4 to 5 epochs (~27.5 hours minus elapsed time in current epoch)

The actual waiting time depends on when you initiate your unstake within the current epoch. Requests made early in an epoch may complete faster, while those made late in an epoch will take the full duration.

Liquidity Parameters

Atomic Unstaking Pool Target Allocation: 2%
The protocol targets maintaining approximately 2% of total equity as instantly-withdrawable liquidity in the atomic unstaking pool.

This target may be adjusted over time to balance instant withdrawal availability with staking efficiency. The actual allocation may temporarily vary above or below the target as the protocol rebalances across epochs.

Validator Revenue Smoothing Duration: 2 epochs

When allocating stake to validators, shMonad smooths revenue by taking the average over the last 2 fully completed epochs.

Safety Parameters

Circuit Breaker Slashing Threshold: 7%
If any validator experiences an unexpected loss exceeding 7% of total protocol equity, the circuit breaker activates to prevent potential cascading issues.

Note: Slashing is not currently active on Monad. This parameter serves as a future-proofing safety mechanism.

Fee Parameters

Protocol Commissions

Staking Rewards Commission: 5%
FastLane's share of the gross staking rewards. The net remaining staking rewards are distributed as yield to shMON holders.

MEV Auction Handler Fee: 10%
The fee rate applied to successful MEV bids in the auction handler that consists of the validator's MEV commission, FastLane's MEV commission, and rewards distributed as yield to shMON holders.

Boost Yield Commission: 25%
FastLane's share of gross non-staking rewards (i.e., MEV fees, ACE fees, and other non-staking revenue streams). The net remaining non-staking rewards are distributed as yield to shMON holders.

Atomic Unstaking Fees

Base Fee: 0.005%
The minimum fee charged even at zero pool utilization.

Fee at Maximum Utilization: 1.005%
The maximum fee charged when the atomic pool reaches 100% utilization.

Fee Calculation:
The actual fee you pay varies linearly between the base fee and maximum fee based on current pool utilization. At 50% utilization, the fee would be approximately 0.505%.

Parameter Updates:
These parameters may be updated by protocol governance to optimize performance or respond to changing network conditions. Major changes are typically announced in advance through official channels.

Verification:
All parameters can be verified on-chain by querying the shMonad contract. The contract code is open source and available for audit.
